Zoom Communications is a leading video-conferencing company. It connects teams and provides video meetings and virtual conference rooms. In a recent press release, the company has announced that Velchamy Sankarlingam will join the company. He will be the President of Engineering and Product effective June 12.
Who is Velchamy Sankarlingam?
Before joining Zoom, Velchamy was Senior VP at Cloud Services Development and Operations at VMware. He has experience in R&D as well as IT. He has also managed a business unit in R&D and was also responsible for all infrastructure in the company, including building and operating one of the largest private clouds. Further, Velchamy has helped VMware transform to SaaS and the development of all business applications at VMware.
Before joining VMware, Velchamy was Vice President of Engineering and Operations at Cisco. Here he was responsible for engineering and operations of Webex. As we go back, Velchamy was also Vice President positions at Webex and Presenter.com. He also worked at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), IBM, Network Computing Devices, and Standard Microsystems. Velchamy is also on the board of Bellus3D.
At Zoon, he will be directly reporting Eric Yuan. He will oversee the company’s engineering, product, and dev ops teams. Zoom recently announced that it will expand its engineering team with up to 500 new headcounts based in Phoenix, Arizona and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
