Live video is becoming a rage on social platforms, with companies like Twitter and Facebook embracing the concept of streaming live events. However, YouTube was being reluctant to adopt mobile live streaming. But that's all about to change.
YouTube has finally rolled out live streaming feature from mobile devices. Sadly, this feature is available only for users with more than 10,000 subscribers. So either you can build up your subscriber base, or just wait as YouTube said, "the rest of you will have it soon!"
"It's a launch that'll put the power of live streaming in the hands of hundreds of thousands of talented creators, giving them a more intimate and spontaneous way to share their thoughts, lives and creativity," Macdonald and Wilms said in a blog post.
The new feature, which is built into the app, allows users to is broadcast from anywhere. YouTube notes that "streamed videos will have all the same features as regular YouTube videos."
All you have to do to start streaming is open YouTube, hit the capture button, and you’re live!
The content creator will be paid a portion of the ad revenues generated from their live videos, providing another way to earn money.
YouTube has also launched 'Super Chat', a new live stream monetization tool for creators. The tool allows viewers to pay to pin a comment on the top of the comment section for five hours, which in turn will help the creator to know their most loyal fans. "Super Chat is like paying for that front-row seat in the digital age," YouTube said.
While Google-owned YouTube started supporting live streaming on its website since 2011, Facebook Live was launched in 2015 offering live streaming video option. Twitter began allowing live broadcasts from its mobile app last year only
