After delivering on its promise of updating most of its devices with the latest MIUI 9 including 2012 Mi 2, Xiaomi has finally dropped the mic. The Chinese smartphone maker has now confirmed that it is suspending MIUI updates for six of its devices that include Mi 2/2S, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, and the Mi Note.
Xiaomi, through a forum post, confirmed that MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM 7.11.16 will be the last beta update for the above-mentioned devices. The company said that it is removing these devices from future updates in order to improve the performance of MIUI.
"We have to make a tough decision of suspending the update of 6 devices after a long-time discussion and evaluation about the release time of devices, active users, hardware performance, etc," Xiaomi's MIUI team noted in the forum post.
Xiaomi also notes that the MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM for these six devices and Redmi 1S will be gradually released starting next month and the rollout will complete by January 2018. For the ones who have already flashed their dated device with MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM, Xiaomi will soon update you with methods to help flash MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM.
Xiaomi started rolling out MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM for handsets such as the Redmi Note 4, Mi Max 2, and Mi Mix 2 earlier this month. The new MIUI version has enhanced notification alerts, split screen, animated icons, and smart photo editing. The company has also integrated a smart app launcher that suggests apps right from the home screen.
