Xiaomi's Redmi smartphone series that has been an absolute killer in the budget phone section has launched its next iteration- Redmi Note 5A, which is a successor to Redmi Note 4A.
The dual SIM smartphone features a 5.5-inch display and a resolution of 1280 x 720. The display is big enough to enjoy videos on the go, though the resolution here is not a Full HD one. The smartphone has been launched in two models- Standard Edition and High Edition and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor. There are two variants here- 3GB RAM+32GB storage and another one with 4GB RAM+64GB storage .
Interestingly, there's another base variant with a Snapdragon 425 processor- 2GB RAM and 16 GB storage. All variants of the Redmi Note 5A feature a dedicated dual nano SIM slots and a microSD support. The device draws power from a 3,080mAh battery.
As for optics, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A, base variant sports a 13-megapixel rear sensor with LED flash support, PDAF, f/2.2 aperture, HDR mode, and real-time filters. At the front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. Connectivity options include 4G, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, and GPS + GLONASS. Sensors on board include infrared, gyro, acceleration, distance, ambient light, and compass.
Redmi Note 5A runs on the company’s MIUI, which is based on Android 7.1 Nougat and it comes in Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, and Platinum Silver colors options.
Now coming to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A higher variant with Snapdragon 435 processor. The big difference here is that this device comes with fingerprint sensor support. The premium variant is also powered by the Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor with Adreno 505 GPU. The front camera is upgraded to a 16-megapixel 76-degree wide-angle sensor with an independent soft light flash, f/2.0 aperture, and real-time beauty filters during video calls.
The variant with a Snapdragon 425 chipset, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage is priced at 699 yuan (or approx Rs 6719). Meanwhile, the phone with a Snapdragon 435 with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage is priced at 899 yuan (or approx Rs 8641), whereas the model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage will be priced at 1199 yuan (Rs 11,525). The phone will go on sale in China starting August 22. Though it remains to be seen when will the phone go on sale in India.
