Xiaomi, the Chinese phone maker, is getting ready to launch the Mi Max successor. Yes, after much delay and rumour reports, Xiaomi has confirmed the launch date.
Dubbed as Mi Max 2, the next smartphone from Xiaomi will be launched on May 25, in Beijing, China. Xiaomi confirmed the launch date through a poster. The poster says the phone will be launched at 2 PM in Beijing at a press conference and will be attended by CEO Lei Jun. Chinese girl band SNH48 will also be at the launch if you go by the poster.
According to the website, Mi Max 2 will sport a 6-inch display alongside a large 5000mAh battery and an all-metal body with the fingerprint sensor on the back of the device.
Earlier rumours have suggested that the will sport a massive 6.4-inch Full HD display and will be launched in two variants—one with 4GB RAM and Snapdragon 626 processor, while another offering 6GB RAM with Snapdragon 660 chipset. According to previous rumours, the 4GB variant will carry a price tag of around Rs 14,000, while the 6GB model could cost around Rs 15,900.
On the camera front, Mi Max 2 will come equipped with a 12MP rear camera, while there is a 5MP front-facing camera. The camera will be capable of taking 4K videos.
Moreover, Mi Max 2 will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with NFC support for cashless payments.
The company is also expected to introduce a 128GB storage variant of the Mi Max 2. It will also have 4G LTE support, a 3.5mm headset jack, a USB Type-C port, an IR blaster, and an all metal build. The handset is also said to pack dual speaker grilles at the bottom edge of the device.
Within two months of launching Mi Max, Xiaomi claimed to have managed to ship 1.5 million units in China. The company also recently launched Redmi 4 smartphone in the Indian market.
