The 'Bharat' hashtag has resulted in a lot of rumors that the new device will be a competitor to Reliance JioPhone. Xiaomi has been increasingly focusing on the Indian market as it recently launched the Mi Power Bank 2i in the country with a price tag starting from Rs 799. The company also recently opened up its third manufacturing plant in Noida adding that it plans to invest up to $1 billion in startups over the next five years to build an India-centric product portfolio.
