MUMBAI, INDIA: Will the Apple iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus cost more in India?

According to a report in the Economic Times, these devices are expected to carry a higher price tag in India as compared to the overseas market. ET citing distributors, reported that India prices for the new iPhone models is higher compared to the US and Singapore.

In India, the iPhone 6S will be available in 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants at Rs 62,000, Rs 72,000 and Rs 82,000 respectively. The 6S Plus 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB models will be priced at 72,000, Rs 82,000 and Rs 92,000 respectively.

The pricing for iPhone 6S starts at $649 in the US that translates to roughly Rs 42,235. This model has been listed at S$1,048 (approx Rs 48,295) in Singapore, ET noted.

Meanwhile, the new devices have been listed on eBay, Flipkart, Quickr and Olx at varying prices. Now, it is to be seen if the higher prices will deter Apple’s India following from buying the device.

One of the reasons for higher pricing phones are priced higher in the country is because unlike West where they bundle the phone along with the package from telcos, in India, it is a standalone segment.
