Netflix had rolled out the feature of multiple profiles on one account. Amazon Prime has finally joined the league to add up to six profiles (one more than Netflix) on one account. Other competitors like Hulu and Disney+ already had multiple profile sections.
This feature helps in a personalised recommendation to the profile. You can add family members and make a separate profile for your kids. You can also use the default "Kids" profile. Now no more of messed up recommendation. Watch episodes where you left them. You won't even have to worry your kids watching something they shouldn't.
It comes as a great relief between the Covid-19 Lockdown. Although the project has rolled out in several countries- India being one of them- the updated apps will be available territory-wise. Prime Video Usage was bound to go up. This upgrade comes in very handy. Profiles can be modified and deleted, and internet usage will be down by 25%.
Amazon Prime has also rolled out a new feature- the Cinema Hub where you can rent movies that are out in theatres. This is a great step amid the lockdown as all theatres are closed on Government orders. The Cinema Hub feature is still not available in India.
It is available for users in India across select devices, including Android and iOS, Fire tablets, Prime Video app on Fire TV, Chromecast, and select Apple TVs, and web browsers. Fire TV, though, provides the option for profiles only in India.
Prime Video profiles are not available on the Fire TV home screen, Alexa devices with a screen, Fire Gen 9 or below tablets, and other living room devices for now.
For Apps:
- Open ‘My Stuff’ from the bottom bar of the Prime Video app.
- Tap on the ‘+’ icon to create a new profile.
The same steps can be followed for Prime Video on Amazon’s Fire tablets. But these don’t sell in India.
For FireTV:
- On the Fire TV app, users will be greeted with the profile page when they open Prime Video.
- Users can tap on the ‘+’ icon to create new profiles.
The only set back is that only 3 people can play Prime Video simultaneously.
