WhiteHat Jr files two defamation suits in the last month. The first case, in the personal capacity of CEO Karan Bajaj, went to the Delhi High Court. Against Pradeep Poonia, Bajaj seeks $2.7 million in damages. Here, he has accused Poonia of infringing trademarks and copyright of properties owned by WhiteHat Jr; defaming and spreading misleading information about the startup and its founder, and accessing the company’s private communications app.
The case that went into Delhi High Court, had asked Poonia to take down 12 tweets and 4 videos from his Social Media handles. The case that went for defamation, privacy invasion and copyright infringement, is yet to conclude. But, DHC did not ask Poonia to change his social media handle names. Meanwhile, the biggest allegation on him is infringing the name “WhiteHat Jr”. Yet, somehow, his Twitter account stood suspended today morning.
Poonia states that this is a WhiteHat Jr doing
In a LinkedIn post, Pradeep Poonia says, "My Twitter handle ALSO got suspended this morning. So after taking down 17 videos, 2 YT channels, 2 Reddit accounts, 1st Twitter handle, 1 Quora account, 3 LinkedIn articles, then this LinkedIn account itself, filing a 20 crore defamation lawsuit against me; then legally making me remove 12 tweets and 4 YouTube videos. Now they 'somehow' took down my Twitter handle @whiteHatSnr itself."
The account has no posts, although you can see its Followers/Following count on the mobile app. Further, Poonia will soon be submitting evidence to the court as to why he has been “defaming” WhiteHat Jr. Before this, WhiteHat Jr had mass reported Poonia's LinkedIn account leading to the ban, that LinkedIn has now restored.
“I’ll, of course, present my detailed defence to the Hon’ble Court. This will include material and docs that demonstrate the truth of the statements I have made,” states Poonia on Twitter. Poonia has been given three weeks to file his reply and WhiteHat Jr has been granted two weeks post reply to file their rejoinder.
The case will be heard next on 6 January.
