New Update
NTA reopens registration and modification for JEE Main April/May sessions to be conducted from July 20 to August 2

Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in India, the Education Ministry has proposed to postpone many exams including CBSE. Thus, NTA has postponed the next phase of the JEE Main i.e. JEE Main April 2021. The NTA will announce the new dates at least 15 days before the exam. The NTA informed about the postponement of JEE Main April exam through a notification on its official website. It said, “Looking at the present situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and also taking into account the safety and well-being of the candidates and examination functionaries, it has been decided to postpone the JEE (Main) – 2021 April Session.”

Students must know that NTA has already conducted two of the four sessions of JEE (February and March). An average of 6 lakh students participated in each of the exams. NTA would now have conducted JEE Main from April 27 to 30, and later in the last week of May. But the conditions don't allow the same.

Earlier, CiOL had reported that the current state of the pandemic would hit the JEE (Main) April exam. That turned out to be right. But in a more pressing concern, as NTA has postponed the April exam, it will likely shift the May exam. Now, unlike for BTech and BE, BArch students have only got two chances to give their JEE Main exams. Thus, it could pose a massive difficulty for all candidates appearing in May 2021.

When will JEE Main April 2021 session take place?

Well, there is a chance that NTA forgoes all of the April session and just conducts the May session. For instance, CBSE postponed the class 12th exams and cancelled the 10th exams. On the other hand, the Union Health Ministry postponed NEET (PG). The postponed date will certainly overlap with many entrance examinations like NEET (UG), etc.

In an unlikely case, NTA can also push the April session to May and May to June-July; further pushing JEE Advanced to July-August.
