WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that will help you avoid your annoying chats. Currently, the Archive section in the app displays at the very bottom of the chat screen. If you receive a new message, the chat automatically comes on top and then, you have to archive it again. According to a WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp is now testing a new toggle that will stop conversations from coming up from the archive even when you get a new message.

Users will be able to turn this setting on from the archive screen. Alternately, they can change their chat setting via Settings > Chats > Archived Chats > Keep Chats Archived. When you enable the new archive mode, the "Archived Chats" section will move from the bottom of the list to the top (very much like pinned chats). This feature will allow you to keep unnecessary chats or groups in the archive mode even when they are receiving messages in them.

If you are a beta tester, you can access this feature and it will remove all your archive chats. If you don’t want to use this section, you can simply toggle it off. Further, this feature is currently available to Android beta users only. You might have to wait longer to get it if you are using the regular version of the app.

"If this update still doesn’t bring the new archive for you, don’t worry. It’s not a bug, but it’s the way WhatsApp uses to release features. Yesterday a lot of people didn’t receive the new archive, instead today the same people can now use the new feature. Soon it will be available for your WhatsApp account too," WABetaInfo reported.

The most controversial privacy update deadline passed on May 15. You will either have to accept it or risk losing all the key features. The company has stated that if you don't accept the privacy policy, it will stop you from calling or messaging contacts. If you still choose to not accept it, then eventually, WhatsApp will become more or less useless to you. Initially, you will be able to answer incoming voice and video calls. If you have notifications enabled, you can also tap on them to read or reply to a message. You can call back a missed audio or video call.
