It’s a race. The goal is crisp and clear- to provide an all-inclusive service platform to keep users inside the app for as long as possible. WhatsApp has added a lot of features in recent months including end-to-end encryption of messages and file sharing to attract a bigger chunk to its digital arena. A new report from PhoneRadar claims that the most popular instant messaging service is all set to add more features in the coming weeks that includes ‘call back’ option and zip file sharing.
The report says that WhatsApp for Android and iOS will soon get a 'call back' feature which will allow users to call back friends with just a tap of a button without opening the app. The button will be visible in the notification panel, alongside a WhatsApp missed call notification. The messaging service may also offer a set of voicemail options to iOS, allowing users to record and send voice mails to contacts.
Whatsapp had already made doc sharing available on its network last month that included sending and receiving pdf files,doc-sheets, and Slides files. The company will be expanding on this feature a little bit by introducing the capability for users to send ZIP files back and forth.
ZIP files are compressed folders which contain a number of files that usually weigh at a much higher file size, so adding this capability to WhatsApp would allow users to send large amounts of files over the network without actually eating up large amounts of data.
As of now, there is no word when WhatsApp will start rolling out these features. In last few months, WhatsApp has added several new features including quick replies to messages right from the notification panel, and new text formatting features including bold and italics. The inbuilt camera in the WhatsApp Messenger also was completely overhauled with new user interface and icons.
