WhatsApp for Android introduces major updates including smaller app size

The latest version of WhatsApp for Android (beta) is introducing some major changes to the app. The app is now generally smaller in size and also has a new feature that notifies your contacts whenever you change your number.

According to the technology website Teknepolis, the new package of WhatsApp 2.17.375 takes very less space when downloading and installing the app. The decrease in the size of the app (6MB) is due to the elimination of 20 libraries that were added in the previous versions.

Another major change in the beta version is that if you change your contact number, it will notify your friends about it automatically. The feature would notify every time you change your phone number. Users can also customize which contacts would receive the notification about the number change.

In addition to these two updates, the company also modified 473 files having minor errors.
