Twitter India head, Rishi Jaitly called it quits from Twitter on Twitter. So, yesterday via series of tweets through his official twitter account he announced his exit.
Today, after 4 years of user/business momentum in India & the region, I’m sharing my intention to move on to new opportunities, same mission

There is a lot of ambiguity surrounding Twitter's future and this was definitely a disturbing news for twitter. However, the Q3 results do look promising for the firm, the departure is definitely difficult. However, he did not clearly define any reason for leaving. But hinted that he might be spending a lot of time in Chicago and this might be one of the factors behind his resignation.
While a personal/civic calling takes me to Chicago, I’ll spend significant time in India/Asia, drawing on my past to further tech's promise. — Rishi Jaitly (@rsjaitly) November 1, 2016
He also expressed his keen desire to continue in the devlopment and promotion of technology.
My mission remains the same: harness tech/media’s scale to connect users/citizens to their voice/agency/leadership in places they care about

Rishi Jaitly has been leading Twitter India for four years now- which meant starting from the scratch and bringing it up step by step. He was also heading the Asia-Pacific expansion of the company’s Media interests. Recent past has seen a lot of departures, lay-offs and failed acquisition deals in Twitter. The latest news being that of closing down Vine.
Twitter India expressed in an official statement that "We thank Rishi Jaitly for his contributions, entrepreneurship and leadership over the past four years at Twitter. He was our first person on the ground to bring Twitter into the high-growth Indian market; He has created bold, strategic partnerships to enter and grow new markets for Twitter; and has successfully built up our Media Partnerships teams across the Asia Pacific and Middle East."
They expressed that there will be a smooth transition as his last day is in late November, after which Jaitly will move back to the US. But, no new suggestions or names were thrown in the open. Twitter has still a lot of catching up to do India and is still way behind popular social media channels like Whatsapp or Facebook. So, what's next for Twitter India now?
