MUMBAI, INDIA: Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, Facebook has issued statements extending his support for Net Neutrality.
Responding to questions posted by his fans on the profile page of the CEO of the largest social networking site, Zuckerberg said, “The principle of Net Neutrality, which requires that all Internet traffic be treated equally no matter where it's headed or where it comes from, makes sure Internet service providers like Verizon and AT&T don't discriminate and limit access to services people want to use."
Coming from Zuckerberg, the message is clear—Facebook supports Net Neutrality.
While the topic has been under constant scanner and subject to long debates and discussions by the netizens in India, citizens in the US too recently filed lawsuits arguing that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) was being heavy handed and that the `outdated laws’ could stifle innovation.
Meanwhile, Zuckerberg pressed for initiatives like Internet.org and said that in countries where people are not connected to the Internet, it is better to provide share and connect rather than remain disconnected at all. ”I believe they can co-exist with Net neutrality regulations.”
