The controversy has been going on for days now. US President Donald Trump has his issues about the ByteDabce operated TikTok app. The app supposedly collects user data and sells it to the Chinese Communist Party. Thus, following a conversation between Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and President Donald J. Trump, Microsoft will explore a purchase of TikTok in the United States.
In an official statement, it said, "Microsoft will move quickly to pursue discussions with TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, in a matter of weeks, and in any event completing these discussions no later than September 15, 2020. During this process, Microsoft looks forward to continuing dialogue with the United States Government, including with the President."
Why Microsoft wants to acquire TikTok?
Remember when the US Senates asked the four Big Tech whether China stole the US user data? The answers were mixed. And when India banned the Chinese App, the USA had to do something. There are reports where ByteDance sells user data and thus, the review was necessary.
To fans and users of #TikTok I understand your concerns.
However President Trump is right to want to make sure that the Chinese Communist Party doesn’t own TikTok and most importantly — all of your private data.

The company stated that it appreciates the importance of addressing the President’s concerns. Thus, it will acquire the app, TikTok, subject to a complete security review. Then, it will provide economic benefits to the United States, including the United States Treasury.
In the coming 45 days, Microsoft will move to pursue discussions with TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance. But before that, Microsoft said that it will now give the next update only when the deal is final. With the acquisition, the company would ensure that all private data of TikTok’s American users remain in the United States. Further, it also wants to ensure that any data primarily transferred is deleted.
Lastly, the company will also ensure that the new app will be similar to the app right now. But it would include world-class security, privacy, and digital safety protections. It will build the operating model for the service to ensure transparency to users as well as appropriate security oversight to the government.
The tech giant may invite other American investors to participate on a minority basis in this purchase.
