Uber looking to partner with Waymo to supply autonomous vehicles

Uber is looking to partner Waymo to supply autonomous vehicles. This news comes following Uber’s legal settlement with Alphabet's self-driving car division last month, as well as the company’s less combative stance.

According to The Information, CEO Dara Khosrowshahi and other Uber executives have “signalled to Waymo” an interest in a previous partnership idea. Similar to a current Waymo-Lyft arrangement, Uber users would be able to hail and ride in the driverless Alphabet electric minivans.

The Information notes that there is no indication if Waymo is ready to deal with Uber or if it's even interested at all. Even though Waymo is already collaborating with Lyft, a working relationship with Uber would likely help the Google-owned autonomous car division get more of its self-driving cars on the road.

The long-running dispute between the companies reached its conclusion last month when the trade secret battle between Uber and Waymo was settled for $244.8 million in cash that Uber would pay to the Alphabet company. Uber also promised that it wouldn’t use any of Waymo’s trade secrets in its own technology.
