Amid a string of high-profile controversies that range from sexual harassment case, infringement case and departures, the ride-hailing startup, is looking to acquire the tech team behind Luxe, a luxury car parking startup.
According to the WSJ report, Uber is in an advanced stage to acquire the Luxe engineers, and the company has also been interviewing the team this week to figure out who to keep in a deal.
Although the terms of the deal are still unclear, the report confirms that the Luxe CEO Curtis Lee will not be joining Uber.
Luxe allows drivers in selected cities to help people valet park their car via the startup’s app. Recently, the company had offered customers the option to valet park at some Luxe-branded garages, too. However, in April, Luxe ended its door-to-door valet service, with CEO Curtis Lee saying that the company was changing directions.
It seems that is the reason Luxe is not joining Uber, as he is reportedly going to work on some version of Luxe and retain the brand.
So far Luxe had raised more than $75 million, with its most recent round coming in at $50 million last April.
