Following in the footsteps of its rival Facebook, Twitter is rolling out a new feature allowing users to make their profile picture public every time they update it.
Rolled out to all the Android users, and few iOS users, the feature will prompt you to tweet with the auto-filled hashtag, every time you update your profile picture. With the auto-filled hashtag, users can also edit the tweet and add whatever they want to. The posts will be visible to all of the followers with the #NewProfilePic hashtag.
However, unlike Facebook, Twitter will not automatically post the tweet. The last call would always be users.
TechCrunch says that this minor change can help the company to improve the user engagement. Affirming that young generation use profile pictures as a form of expression, the report says, "Twitter may be subtly encouraging them to do it more"

Compared to social media giant Facebook, Twitter seems to have just taken the first step for a better user engagement. Facebook already provides a plethora of other features, such as setting temporary profile pictures, using videos instead of an image, adding decorative frames, and use third-party apps to create profile videos.
Hopefully this is just the beginning and we will get more features to improve the profile picture experience from Twitter.
