After avoiding in-car software platforms like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for quite some time, Toyota will finally be offering Apple’s in-dash infotainment system that works with your iPhone in its new 2019 Toyota Avalon.
Toyota's new 2019 Avalon was announced on Monday at the 2018 North American International Auto Show, and the new model includes a long-awaited and welcome addition. The new vehicle, the fifth-generation Avalon that Toyota has produced, has a bolder looking exterior and new 3.5-liter V6 or the Toyota Hybrid System II engine.

CarPlay will be standard on all Avalon trim levels when the sedan goes on sale in late spring, although that's no guarantee it'll be standard on other models. A spokesperson told MacRumors that CarPlay would initially be limited to US models, and that there's no wireless option.
Toyota made no mention of adding Android Auto however. Toyota said its CarPlay implementation will be wired, so connecting an iPhone via USB will be required. Entune 3.0 will also be compatible with Amazon's Alexa voice assistant in the United States, as Toyota announced at CES 2018 last week.
