The game is at its peak at Rio with players giving their heart and soul to win an Olympic medal for their country. But interestingly, hearts are looking for another kind of match too at the Olympics village. Latest statistics from the popular online dating app Tinder, suggest that in the first weekend of the international games, profile matches in the Olympic Village have shot up dramatically.

According to a spokesperson from Tinder, “The Olympic Games have started and Tinder use has skyrocketed in Rio de Janeiro. Over the weekend, matches in the Olympic Village increased by 129 percent and we expect this trend to continue throughout the Games. Rio has also become the most popular place in the world to swipe using Tinder’s Passport feature – with Rio visits increasing by 211 percent during the same time.”

Tinder says that its usage has more than doubled in the game village since the Olympics started. While daily active users in Rio De Janeiro rose 64 percent, the profile matches went up by a massive 129 percent. The swipes have shot up by 69 percent in the area and the super likes, where users pick the best-looking person they come across each day, grew by 73 percent.

Some popular sportspersons using the online dating app includes names like French water polo player RémiSaudadier, Dutch gymnast Bart Deurloo, Greek swimmer Stefanos Dimitriadis and South African swimmer Roland Schoeman.
