No, we aren't talking about the British music reality show The X-Factor here and neither the above-mentioned URL has got any thing to do with it. The news here is that Elon Musk has bought the domain name- X.com but what's more intriguing is what's up Musk's sleeves in regards to his new possession (not exactly new, though).
Musk was the original owner of this domain back in 1999 when it was an online financial services company X.com. The startup was eventually rolled up with another company called Confinity in a deal that would be rebranded as PayPal in 2001. Now, over 16 years later, Musk and X.com are back together for some apparent and not so apparent reasons. The news was first reported by Domain Investing.
Thanks PayPal for allowing me to buy back https://t.co/bOUOejO16Y! No plans right now, but it has great sentimental value to me.

While Musk may say he has no plans with the domain name 'right now' but wouldn't it fit seamlessly with Musk's current ventures be it Tesla Model X or SpaceX? So we’ll have to wait and see if the URL gets used for something car-related or rocket-related in the future or may be something completely new out of Musk's sci-fi kitty.
Single letter domains aren't just cool, they come at a handsome price too, though, PayPal isn’t saying just how much Musk paid for it. This means we will have to wait for a future filing to reveal the specifics.
