In a massive disappointment for many Tesla fans in the country, the much-awaited Tesla's debut or the electric car revolution in India may have been indefinitely postponed. Though Tesla CEO Elon Musk had hoped to launch the Tesla Model 3 electric car in India in 2017, it appears the plan may have hit a road block due to component supply issues.
In a reply to a query about the company’s plans for entry into India, Musk said, "Maybe I'm misinformed, but I was told that 30 percent of parts must be locally sourced and the supply doesn't yet exist in India to support that."

We aren't sure if the 30 percent locally sourced clause was a condition put up by the Indian government for Tesla to set up shop in India.
The Tesla Model 3 is the most affordable car in the company’s lineup. It’s priced at $35,000 (roughly Rs 23 lakh). The Tesla Model S is a luxury sedan and that’s priced at $66,000 (roughly Rs 43 lakh).
As for when will be the official debut, we will keep you posted.
