Telegram Halloween Update: Multiple Pinned Messages, Live Location and more

Telegram is inching closer to becoming one of the most popularly used messaging apps in India. The instant messaging app has garnered several thousand, if not millions, of downloads in India alone. The government as well as common individuals use this app for all sorts of official task. The app is, however, yet to replace WhatsApp, both, in terms of users as well as features. It is continuously improving and keeps on updating users with a bulk of new features. In its new round of upgrades, the Dubai-based messaging app has improved sharing of live location, pinning multiple messages and more.

The company’s official page called it a Halloween update; “Halloween is just around the corner and we're introducing new features to help organize your trick-or-treating. Practice your voodoo skills with multiple pinned messages in every chat, watch out for other zombies on the block with Live Locations 2.0, put suspenseful music into Playlists, and more”, its page read.

Multiple Pinned Messages

The name clearly defines the role of this new feature. As it goes, multiple pinned messages enable users to pin more than one message in the chat. One can do this in channels, groups as well as one-on-one chats. “Each chat now supports multiple pinned messages. To jump between them, simply tap the top bar several times – or use the new button to all pinned messages on a separate page.”

Improved Live Locations

Telegram has updated its live location feature quite distinctively. The newly added element will notify if the person who has shared the location is anywhere closer to the person who has received it. Additionally, the icons on the live map also highlight the direction in which people are facing. “When friends share their live location, you can set up an alert that will notify you when they're close. Icons on the live location map also show which direction people are facing,” reads the company’s blog.

Playlists

When you send multiple songs at once, they'll be arranged together in a playlist. This makes it easier to play, forward, or comment on. Opening one of the songs will queue them all up in Telegram's built-in media player. Sending multiple files together also displays them in one chat bubble. Just like with photo albums, you can always select each file or track individually.

Channel Post Status

A message statistics feature is also added under the new updates. Channel admins can now track the statistics of any individual posts on the channel. This includes a list of public channels to which the post was forwarded.

New animations on Android and more animated emojis

The app’s android version has new animations for sending messages. Also, you can now edit the received photos and send them back right away. There won’t be any need of downloading, editing and then uploading the picture.

Telegram also introduced new animated emojis with the Halloween theme.
