In addition to being a partner with Tech Mahindra on AT&T, Microsoft is now partnering with them to digitize the telecom sector.
The decision is not something entirely new. Microsoft and Tech Mahindra have been partners on various projects. Director, Rick Lievano opines that post-coronavirus, telecom organizations need to go more digital. And since Tech Mahindra is one of the leading digital transformation solutions, both the companies are going to work together to make digitization faster. This will help telcos to streamline business workflows, improve responsiveness, realize business efficiencies. It will also accelerate the time-to-market of innovative services through automated processes, agile solutions, and the scale of the cloud.
On this partnership, Bob De Haven, General Manager, Media and Communications at Microsoft says,
Tech Mahindra excels in the design, development, and deployment of an operational-ready public and private cloud platform upon which telecommunications organizations can build their business processes and networks of the future.
How will Microsoft empower Telcos?
Microsoft gives a platform to telcos to collaborate, increase productivity and streamline business operation. Further, it has recently announced a partnership with carriers and network operators to build 5G optimised services. They can use the capabilities of Azure compute, storage, networking, and AI of the Azure Edge Zones. So, the overall result will include better network optimization, marketplace insights, personalized customer experiences, and service innovation.
Supporting the telco's partnership, Rick added,
In July of last year, AT&T and Microsoft embarked on an extensive, multi-year alliance where the two companies will apply technologies. This will include cloud, AI, and 5G, to improve how people live and work today and in the future.
Major telco partners of Microsoft include Vodafone, Telstra, Du, Telia, and Deutsche Telekom.
What did Tech Mahindra have to say on the partnership?
Manish Vyas, President of Communication, Media & Entertainment Business and CEO of Network Business at Tech Mahindra says:
Cloud has always been at the centre of Tech Mahindra’s business strategy. Our focused strategy is to increase velocity to the digitization programs of telco operators. This will include significantly reducing overall TCO in their journey towards 5G.
Tech Mahindra had recently acquired Zen-3. So, coupled with Azure, both of these will help drive digitization further. This will help to automate and transform the business processes and networks of telcos.
