Very recently, Swiggy announced that it has moved to a four-day-work-week policy. Similarly, Hospitality startup OYO has also announced that has shifted to a four-day-work-week policy for May. The company has declared a mid-week leave for its employees - on Wednesday. Taking to Twitter, OYO Founder and Group CEO Ritesh Agarwal announced that the company has also launched a no questions asked flexible infinite paid leaves initiative till July. These are over and above the already available privilege and sick leaves.
“COVID continues to test our physical and mental well-being. One thing that truly matters is having more time for our loved ones and ourselves. Inspired by startups and large companies alike, we began a few initiatives this week at OYO. Starting today we are moving to a 4 day work week but implementing it slightly differently, making Wednesdays off to let OYOpreneurs have a mid-week breather. We also launched a No Questions Asked Flexible Infinite Paid Leaves,” he said in a series of tweets.
With an example of his own time, Agarwal said, “I personally plan to wind down today and spend more time with my family, volunteering with the OYO COVID War Room and talking to a few friends and colleagues whose families have been impacted severely in the last few weeks.”
“I hope and pray that we all emerge out of this crisis sooner. Until then, we must all have each other’s back and tide over this crisis together,” he concluded.
Other initiatives
Recently, the company rolled out a feature in the OYO Care App that will allow COVID-19 positive individuals to use its infrastructure for quarantine and isolation. For this, OYO has tied up with over 30 hospitals, several government authorities and private sector companies. It has thus opened up its properties in the wake of the rising Covid crisis.
Through the mobile app, users can book quarantine as well as isolation facilities for COVID-19 patients and individuals. In another attempt, the startup rolled out a VaccinAid feature to show the vaccination status of hotel staff across OYOs. Recently, it also launched a fundraising campaign with Ketto to support Doctors For You. The DFY initiative will provide safe stays, food, and care for frontline medical staff and doctors.
