Vivek Sunder, COO, Swiggy has quit the company, an email from CEO Sriharsha Majesty. Sunder will be pursuing personal and professional interests outside the organisation. Sundar joined the food-tech in 2018 and played an instrumental role in its growth story. He aggressively led the geographical expansion of the marketplace business by taking Swiggy to more than 500 cities. Later, Sunder also rallied the organization to drive a step-change in the unit economics of the marketplace business.
As per media, Sriharsha Majety, Co-Founder & CEO of Swiggy, announced Sundar's resignation in a letter to employees. He said, “I am writing to let you know that Vivek Sunder, our COO, has decided to pursue interests outside of Swiggy. He will transition out of the organization by October.” He further mentioned in the letter, “I will be directly overseeing the Marketplace business with immediate effect. We have been discussing this for a while now. Over the course of the past few weeks, have been planning the way forward as well.”
Majety also mentioned that Sundar played a key role in Swiggy’s on-ground operations during COVID.

An alumnus of IIM Calcutta, Sundar, before Swiggy, led P&G's business in the East/ Equatorial Africa Region comprising Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Angola, and other countries. He worked with Procter and Gamble for 20 years in various capacities. These included Commercial Director in India, Regional Director for a pan Asia team (based in Singapore); Category Leader in the United Kingdom, and Team Leader in Thailand.
Recently the company was also in the news where Japan’s SoftBank is planning to invest up to $450 MN in the company at a $5.5 BN valuation. This is the second time that a senior leader has resigned the company in one year. Last year, Co-founder, CTO of Swiggy - Rahul Jaimini had quit the company to join Pesto Tech.
