According to market data, in the year 2020, India became the second-largest market for e-learning after the US. Going by this demand, in the ever growing Indian Edtech market, K-12 solutions will account for 41% of the total edtech market. The team at Creative Galileo believes the app has the right mix of education and entertainment for the market. It creates personalised, integrated learning experiences for young minds.
In line with the thought, Prerna Jhunjunwala, Founder, Creative Galileo, talks about how the company addresses the Indian edtech sector untapped market. She sheds light on their journey so far and their plans for the Indian market.
Can you share a quick update on the company and its founders?
In recent years, we have seen a seismic shift in student e-learning and associated platforms. This is where we saw an opportunity of creating a robust e-learning app for kids in the ages 3-8 years to strengthen their foundational years. Our Little Singham Kids Early Learn App focuses on ensuring children have a strong foundation in the six learning domains of numeracy, language, social and emotional development, motor skills, creative expression, and the discovery of the world. These learning domains have also been captured into themes consistent with learning videos, games and ebooks. Thus, these all together compile a single unifying concept to help children learn and retain ideas.
We have already received an overwhelming response for our app in a short period. Besides me, the founding team also has Anunay K, Co-founder, and Deesha Vora –Head of Engineering. Anunay comes with over 16 years of experience, building games and interactive digital platforms for children. He has, further, worked with The Walt Disney for eight years. Deesha is a passionate techie and is the Head of Engineering at Creative Galileo.
How is Little Singham changing the learning landscape from an Indian context?
India has emerged as the second-largest Edutech market after the USA. The Asia Pacific continues to be the biggest driver of the global Edtech market. Edtech has always been pegged as a great equalizer that could deliver access to good education among kids of every age. While there are apps with global cartoon characters, Little Singham has an Indian feel, tonality and experience. We focus on the age group from 3 to 8 as these are foundational years of a child's learning curve. Under the banner of Creative Galileo, the App weaves together the best of education and entertainment. It creates personalised, integrated learning experiences for young and developing minds.
How did you come with the idea of launching something like this?
From my initial years, I wanted to work towards democratising education, making it accessible to children even in India's remotest parts and that is why decided to choose to build quality content and learning experience for children in their foundational years. The whole objective is to create a learning journey to help kids improve their knowledge base and reinforce their educational concepts and goals/ outcomes.
How big is the edtech industry in India and who are your main competitors?
For 238 million children in India, there is no single Indian character-based e-learning app focusing on their holistic development. We launched our App and saw a great response in India. Internationally, many apps focus on character-based early learning to make learning fun and engaging. But there is no such app in India that caters to foundational learning for children from 3-8 years while keeping it fun. Thus, we wanted to offer children in India something they can associate themselves with, especially without comprehension barriers. (accent etc)
What products/services are you offering and how are they niche?
Our app focuses on ensuring children have a strong foundation in the six learning domains. These learning domains, thus, capture the themes consistent with learning videos, games and ebooks with a single unifying concept to help children learn and retain ideas. We are not a regular e-learning app, because of our differentiators. We are the only Indian character-focus app that emphasizes the six holistic developmental domains I mentioned before.
What are your plans?
We believe in the next five years, Creative Galileo will become a universe of learning for children with multiple popular characters. Our strategy is simple. Penetrate the country's remotest parts and strategically select edutainment content and offer crucial reinforcement for learning. Right now, we are eyeing 10 million downloads in the next 18 months, and take them to regional languages. We aim to launch smart learning journeys that assess children's learning levels. We are also planning out activities to help achieve learning goals and provide parents with regular updates on their improvements.
How have you been funded?
We are currently bootstrapped. But we are in conversation with India's leading VCs to raise funds.
