MUMBAI, INDIA: A new study commissioned by storage vendor EMC and conducted by research firm Greyhound Research has found that start-ups are disrupting the traditional industries in a big way.
Technology is helping these start-ups to deliver unique and personalized experiences compared to mid and large-sized enterprises. However, they are often unable to optimize information due to lack of planning and workload constraints, the study noted.
Some of the top customer demands include:
Access on multiple platforms across Web and mobile (82 percent)
24x7 support and connectivity (65 per cent) and
Personalized experiences (62 percent)
According to the study, organizations across the board must adopt a digital mindset and embrace data-driven attributes to spot new opportunities, innovate in an agile way, demonstrate transparency and trust, deliver unique and personalized experience and operate in real time.
Sanchit Vir Gogia, Chief Analyst and CEO, Greyhound Research, said, “While start-ups understand the value of information in creating and delivering unique customer experiences, few are able to utilize it effectively. Nearly 60 percent respondents said they are unable to turn the learning into sizeable results and 10 percent stated that information overload was making it even harder to make decisions.”
“As digital inclusion initiatives in India gather steam, traditional businesses must prepare for the onslaught of new customer demands while staving off disruption by agile start-ups that are able to natively leverage technology legacy-free,” said Amit Mehta, Country Manager, Isilon Storage Division, EMC India.
He added that born-in-the-cloud start-ups could also learn a few lessons from traditional organizations in scaling putting right processes in place.
