With the evolution of technology in the education system, students are offered interactive courses and learning methods. The edtech sector has seen the need for changes and development more than ever before. The covid-19 pandemic has only fueled this transformation by bridging the confidence within the society that learning is not confined within classrooms. SP Robotics Works is one of those tech platforms that has futuristically transformed the way learning happens with its Edtech 3.0 Learning pedagogy - using which intelligent AI teacher, “SPARKY”.
Started by Sneha Priya and Pranavan Santhanakrishnan, SP Robotics works on an AI-assisted Digital Learning Platform coupled with fun Hands-on Kits that help students learn various Technologies like Robotics, Coding, Internet Of Things(IoT), Drones, Android App Building, Virtual Reality etc. This scalable solution of Edtech has not only impacted students worldwide but also contributed to the upliftment of local business empowerment in its own way.
Let us decode that again for you-since an online AI teacher does most of the teaching, inevitably, one can only learn from “SPARKY” using a computer/laptop, powered by the Internet. Sneha quotes, “These Makers Labs act as hotspots for children of ages 7 to 17, to learn Robotics & Coding Classes at these Labs, with minimal supervision and a lot of fun, with the Hardware kits provided to them! And for any technical queries, the children connect to the Remote support, provided online by the central team sitting at the Headquarters- thereby, ensuring our Partners get absolute support from the brand!”
The Challenge
Even post-COVID, only 8% of Indian school-going students have access to a computer/laptop with decent internet. Then what about the 92%? Ergo, the “Bharat Model” devised by SP Robotics, to penetrate and provide access to the rest. With COVID making a great level of changes in the current job market, franchise & business opportunities are of great interest today and these opportunities have given a new plethora of hope to such aspiring entrepreneurs in the country!
The Solution
Partnering with local micro-entrepreneurs, the team at SP Robotics has come up with a unique way of guiding these entrepreneurs, to set up the infrastructure at various locations to provide points of access for SPARKY, becoming Franchise Business Partners of the brand! Thereby households without a computer/internet too could learn directly from the AI teacher, with no human trainers at these locations. Sneha and Pranavan, came up with this solution, of “SPARKY”, when they decided to expand their successful, INR 1 Cr generating centre, into multiple locations.
They found the weakest link in today’s education system - the quality and consistency of training which differed from trainer to trainer and decided to resolve it, using an AI Teacher! Thereby, hitting all mangoes with one stone - today, the Maker Lab network powered by this AI platform, houses thousands of students across the country, partnering with Micro-Entrepreneurs- a True MAKE-IN-INDIA story!
The Team
These local micro-entrepreneurs are recruited based on a stringent interview process, led by a business committee headed by the founders Sneha and Pranavan and Dr Ganesh Natarajan, (Ex- CEO of Aptech) who presently sits on their board as well. These micro-entrepreneurs are tested for their local area knowledge, business acumen, and most importantly, their alignment of vision with the brand to provide the right to the best quality of Tech Education to the entire country. The team and the headquarters support these micro-entrepreneurs with basic marketing strategies including a point of contact for business operations and growth strategies.
The Implementation
Not only SPRW has an easy Business Model, but also, the content is flawless and profound. The Course structure, products, and Learning sessions to us are designed excellently- I feel a deep inner satisfaction, that we have been able to offer this platform to the students here in Mumbai!”, Nitin Dighe quotes, a proud Business Partner of SPRW.
The Result
This in turn boosted opportunities for Local Entrepreneurship to bloom, as technology and training were taken care of by the brand. This meant empowerment for those micro-entrepreneurs who were looking to make an impact via a sustainable model. Given that the core element of tech (both the hardware kits and access to “SPARKY”) is powered from the headquarters, it is an interesting opportunity for such micro-entrepreneurs to take this up. It is this initiative that has led to the setup of 83 Assisted Online Maker Lab centres across 32 cities in 13 states.
