The camera-equipped Snapchat Spectacles are going to get two new versions of the sunglasses.
As per a new report from Cheddar, the company is working on a refresh of their hardware´set to launch later this year, as well as a two-camera version planned for 2019.
The company is said to be working on two new Spectacles products: a second-generation model that offers bug fixes, performance improvements, and new colours, and a more ambitious version that could feature two lenses and more advanced camera technology that could cost up to $300.
Given the popularity and functionality that dual cameras have provided in a growing number of smartphones, it makes sense to see Snap give two cameras a shot in its own camera-focused hardware. Finally, Snap is considering partnerships with companies like Warby Parker to put its technology into their own glasses. The Spectacles will be available late next year.
The Spectacles, released in 2016 were such a flop that Snap sold only 150,000 pairs and was forced to write off $40 million in costs "related to Spectacles inventory."
