Snap could be looking at another round of layoffs, this time around 100 engineers, according to Cheddar and CNBC.
The company expects to lay off as many as 100 people or 10 percent of the engineering staff, according to those reports. The cuts come amid struggles during Snap’s first year as a public company: the service has seen a slow growth rate compared to services like Instagram, which has rapidly expanded its user numbers since cloning Snapchat’s Stories feature
Snap rolled out the redesign of its photo messaging app Snapchat recently. The redesign, which got lot of flak from users separated publisher content from content posted by friends and connections. In February, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel, however, said that the app’s redesign is here to stay and that users just need to get used to how the new app works and feels.
Spiegel has said over and over that Snap is a camera company, and appears to be trying to keep that the case as there is reportedly a redesign of its Spectacles camera glasses in the works.
