Microsoft has rolled out a new feature called 'SMS Insights' in its Skype Lite app to help users organize and classify their text messages better.
The new feature will make the SMS box on your smartphones smarter with automatic message sorting under different categories like finance, shopping, travel, reminder, and promotions, helping users take an action from within the app. It also offers relevant action links allowing users to pay bills, check-in to flights and call customer support numbers.
The feature can be enabled by Skype Lite users after providing SMS permission to the app. The company said the SMS classification and categorization will happen locally on the phone and that the users' SMS information will not read or stored.
Earlier this year, Microsoft had launched a lightweight version of Skype app that will work on poor Internet connections and low-end Android smartphones. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said this version was designed specifically for the Indian market and will feature an built-in integration with Aadhaar. The app also supports several Indian languages including Gujarati, Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
