After allowing users to book a cab directly from Google Maps, the tech giant is rolling out another feature to mark out the places you love and share it with your friends and family.
The latest feature, dubbed 'Lists' will allow users to create lists of places, share your lists with others, and follow the lists of your friends and family when shared with you – without ever leaving Google Maps on Android or iOS.
There are three different lists types built in the new feature – “Favourites,” “Starred Places,” and “Want to Go”. Starred Places allow users to save a personal list of places they need to reference, however, "Want to Go" is designed to serve as a personal bucket list.
Users can create their own custom lists which can be public, private, or shared with a link. Users can make a list of the best restaurants in the city, any user on Google Maps can discover your 'lists,' if it is public. If you want to share your experience, with one person or group of people, you can use share the link via Hangouts, SMS, Whatsapp, Facebook or Twitter.
To create a list, users can open the place they want to add to a new list, tap on "Save", and then select “create a new list.” Clicking the link will display the list, and with another click, you can choose to follow it as well to receive further updates.
Moreover, users can view and edit their lists offline, and if offline maps are downloaded in the mobile, places added to the lists will appear on the offline map.
Google has already started rolling out the feature yesterday on iOS and Android.
