Samsung has finally launched Galaxy A8+ (2018) in India- which comes with Infinity Display, 6GB of RAM, the Always On screen ambient display, Samsung Pay support, Bixby, as well as dual front cameras.
The smartphone sports a 6-inch FHD+ (1080x2220 pixels) Super AMOLED display in 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the Samsung Exynos 7885 octa-core SoC, with two cores clocked at a 2.2GHz and six cores clocked at 1.6GHz. It features 6GB of RAM.
In terms of camera there is a dual front camera setup that boasts of a 16-megapixel fixed focus, f/1.9 image sensor and an 8-megapixel f/1.9 sensor. Both the sensors enable the Galaxy A8+ (2018) to provide blurred background in images with a Bokeh effect. Users can also switch the preloaded camera app to have a clear and crisp background as well as a focused foreground. The smartphones have a Live Focus feature to adjust the Bokeh effect while capturing self-portraits. It sports a 16-megapixel rear camera sensor on the back with an f/1.7 lens.
Samsung has also added Bixby to this phone but does not have a dedicated physical button for it. Instead, Bixby is now available via a swipe from the left. Bixby is also part of the camera app as Bixby Vision. While you don’t get an iris scanner on this phone, it does get the face unlock feature.
The Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) sports 64GB of onboard storage, expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB). In terms of connectivity, there are options such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. Sensors onboard include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. It is powered by a 3500mAh battery.
The device will be an Amazon India exclusive, priced at Rs 32,990 and will be available from January 20.
