Ericsson’s CEO Borje Ekholm could announce his exit from the company after less than three years in the job. According to business daily Dagens Industri, Saab’s CEO Hakan Buskhe can replace Ekholm.
Ekholm joined Ericsson in January 2017 after the Swedish company ousted its previous top executive, Hans Vestberg.
The daily news quoted sources sharing details about the change, “The idea is that Hakan Buskhe will take over as CEO of Ericsson. Borje has taken Ericsson out of the crisis and done it well. Now someone needs to come in and move things along.”
Ekholm was picked to steer the company through one of its deepest crises, which has included soft markets, intense competition, heavy restructuring and thousands of job cuts.
Buskhe handed his resignation and said, “The reason I choose to leave Saab is that I would like to face another operational challenge in my career. Until a new CEO is in place, I will continue to have full focus on Saab to ensure a smooth arrival for my successor, with the priorities being the implementation of the major projects together with our customers and the continued work to achieve Saab’s financial goals.”
Though Buskhe has resigned, there is no official statement from Ericsson about the replacement as well as Buskhe hasn't talked about his new move.
