If you have been endlessly waiting for a Reliance JioPhone, well you might see it as an opportunity. Reliance's 4G feature phone, which could previously be ordered via Jio’s official website or MyJio app only, is now listed on Amazon India.
Several vendors are selling the 4G feature phone on the website with price of the handset varying from seller to seller, and also the delivery charges and estimated time for delivery. While one Gadget Geek Business Solution is offering the phone at Rs 1,745 plus Rs 49 delivery charges, another seller going by the name Ganga Communication Center is offering the same for Rs 1,619 (Rs 1,582 + Rs 37 delivery charges).
Notably, there isn't much clarity either on SIM activation and details of refunds which calls for caution if you want to buy the device.
The JioPhone was launched in July last year at Rs 1,500. The amount is refundable after three years, making the effective price of the device as 'zero'. The device received an overwhelming response when booking began with the company having to suspend the bookings after less than 24 hours of the pre-bookings going live.
In terms of specs, the JioPhone sports a 2.4-inch QVGA (320x240 pixels) display. Powering the handset is a 1.2GHz dual-core SPRD 9820A/QC8905 processor coupled with Mali-400 and 512MB RAM. It runs on KAI OS and has single-SIM (Nano SIM) functionality.
