PUBG Mobile was banned in India two months ago and it was a big jolt to its owner as well as the players in the country. Since then, several theories have been brewed around the comeback of the game. However, none of those is from any official sources. But now, according to TechCrunch, PUBG Mobile is plotting to make a comeback in one of its largest markets. Two sources, who requested anonymity told TechCrunch about this latest development.
The South Korean firm has, reportedly, been in talks with global cloud service providers in recent weeks. The engagement with cloud service providers is to ensure that Indian users’ data will be stored in the country itself. The main reason why PUBG was banned in India was because of its connection with Shenzhen-based Tencent. Earlier, users’ data was stored in Tencent cloud. This concerned the Indian government as connection with Tencent raised a possibility that data was being shared with Beijing, risking national security. Hence, to completely get rid of this suspicion and to convince the authorities, PUBG severed its ties with Tencent and is thus engaging with cloud services providers.
How do we know Pubg is coming back?
Also, according to the sources, the gaming giant has privately informed some of the popular streamers in the country about the resumption of the services. The company, said sources, plans to resume services in India before the end of this year. It could announce regarding the same as soon as this week. Also, it plans to run a marketing campaign during Diwali next week.
Rumours of PUBG collaborating with Reliance for handing over of publishing rights were also doing rounds after the ban. This time, sources say that the company has engaged with Paytm and Bharti Airtel. Not very long ago, the company said it is shutting down its servers as users were still able to play the game after it was banned. Even then, some users reported that they were still able to log in and play the game without any interruptions.

Apart from this, a few other banned Chinese apps are also looking to make their way back in India. The number is as high as 200. These apps are planning to change some of their policies that they think will be enough to convince authorities. Major changes could be again around data storage and sharing as it is the major concern of the government in India.
