India's largest digital wallet app Paytm has launched Paytm Inbox, a new offering by the company that lets you chat with your friends and family, and send/ request money at the same time. The new feature is available in the latest version of the Paytm app for Android users. The company said that iOS users will be getting this feature in coming days.
Paytm is using end-to-end encryption on messages, offering the same set of security protections as WhatsApp. It is also offering several other features available in WhatsApp, such as the ability to share live location and recall messages that WhatsApp recently rolled out. You can also exchange photos and videos using Paytm Inbox.
Paytm senior VP Deepak Abbot said, "We have realized that besides making payments, our users and merchants also like to communicate with each other. There is a need of social messaging, commerce and payments seamlessly blending into one another."
Paytm Inbox also includes Notifications, where you can see cashback offers available across categories. This will ensure you never miss another opportunity to save while you shop. It will also feature Orders, that will let you view your order and transaction updates and Games, which will be loaded with exciting Cricket and trivia-based games you’d love.
Additionally, Paytm is also introducing "Delete for All" option that can recall your unintentional messages. This is the same feature which Facebook-owned WhatsApp implemented last week.
