OnePlus 5 is a significant step forward for the Shenzhen-based company with minor but noticeable upgrades from OnePlus 3 and 3T. From design to performance to camera, and battery life, OnePlus 5 is a top of the range smartphone that comes at a much reasonable price than others with same specs in the market.

Specifications: Can it get better than this?

OnePlus 5 is powered by the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 835 processor with two options of either 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The 5.5-inch screen takes up much of the front of the handsets with thinner bezels at the side and slightly wider top and bottom bezels. The smartphone continues to use a combined physical home button and fingerprint sensor, along with two capacitive buttons either side to act as the main Android control keys.

On the camera front, you have the "highest resolution dual-camera system on a smartphone today". This is made up of a 16-megapixel main camera (Sony IMX398 sensor, 1.12-micron pixels) with a f/1.7 aperture, said to capture 34 percent more light than the OnePlus 3T (which had an aperture of f/2.0), coupled with a 20-megapixel telephoto camera (Sony IMX350 sensor, 1-micron pixels) with an f/2.6 aperture.

Like other dual-camera systems, the two lenses can work together to create an optical zoom of up to 2x, as well as a "bokeh" effect that brings the picture's subject into focus while blurring the background.

Some might be disappointed to see there is no Soft Gold version this time.

For 6GB RAM coupled with 64GB storage and Slate Gray colour, you will have to shell out $479  and for 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant in Midnight Black paint job colour, the cost is $539. The smartphone is already up for pre-order in select markets and will be available for wider sales on June 27.
