Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Odisha signed an MoU with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Under this agreement, both the parties will jointly establish a Space innovation centre in the university. Thus, VSSUT has become the first university in the country to pen down an MoU with ISRO.
As part of the agreement, ISRO will offer technical consultancy support and financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh to the VSSUT. This will help in infrastructure development. The collaboration will, further, bring development of high-end simulation tools, miniature test facilities - like static test facility, solid propulsion research lab - and testing facility for scaled-down models.
ISRO Chairman, K Sivan said that space research and its application will interest more students in future.
He also added, "It will be a game-changer for the country as the industry requires more research for the development of subsystem and propulsion system".
Dr K Sivan was the Chief Guest of the program. He emphasised the excellent work of VSSUT students. He further expressed great hope that the VSSUT Space innovation centre will promote advanced space knowledge among students. Also, he narrated the role of the Technologic Business Incubator at the university in enriching and promoting the startup culture.
ISRO will facilitate the limited utilisation of rocket launching facilities like Thumba, Sriharikota or Balasore (under DRDO). Here, all kinds of safety systems are available, for the launch of future sounding rockets. On its part, the VSSSIC will explore the latest global trend in space technology. Further, it will take up projects which will benefit the country.
