Oculus Rift headsets around the globe have stopped working due to a single expired certificate. The news first reported by Neowin, states that the certificate, which is part of the Oculus Runtime service, is being read as invalid, and the cause is likely a simple mistake like someone forgetting to push out a new file.
As per the report, the issue was caused due to a file called OculusAppFramework.dll and needs to be updated in order for the headsets and software to run as normal. The error message displayed on the screen says, “Your Oculus software may be updating. Please wait a minute and try again. If the issue continues, contact Oculus support.”
The company has confirmed that the problem is a result of “an issue with our software certification” and said, "Our teams apologize for any convenience this may be causing you and appreciate your patience while we work on a resolution."
