Last year, Carl Pei left OnePlus in pursuit of a new venture - Nothing. The venture, aimed at creating consumer tech, announced that it has a number of audio products in its goodie bag. This summer, the company is launching its first product - Ear 1. Announcing the launch, Carl Pei, Founder, Nothing said, “Today, we at Nothing have come a long way since founding the company in late October 2020. We are now all set to reveal more about our very first product - Ear 1.”
The greatest visions are not realized with the flip of a switch, but instead through countless small successes. @Nothing Ear 1 is just the start: https://t.co/RlKZFywxMN pic.twitter.com/JOejeNf634

According to Pei, the design for Ear 1 is top-secret. “What we can tell you is that Ear 1 combines notes of transparency, iconic form, and refined functionality. It is the starting point that will define the artistry, confidence and craftsmanship that will carry our products and services for years to come. Everything that is Ear 1 is there with a purpose. Everything you see and everything you don’t see. Even the name,” he said.
He added, “Mirroring the product’s stripped-down aesthetic, the name Ear 1 echoes our raw ambition — to let things be what they are. We don’t try to dress it up with a fancy name. Nor do we want to sit around debating said names. We let Ear 1 speak for itself. We believe the earphones market was begging for differentiation, a space where we can elevate design and deliver value from day one. Additionally, as an area of hyper-growth, the earphones market will provide a fertile backdrop as we strengthen our capabilities and prepare to enter new product categories.”
Here are the key highlights:
• Product name: Ear 1
• Product type: Nothing’s first product will be True Wireless Earbuds
• Launch details: Coming this June
