Many illustrious sports leagues have had brief stints with Snapchat before (mainly for Live Stories), but the NFL appears to be in for a long haul. The League is apparently building a team for a channel on Snapchat Discover, the mobile storytelling app’s network of media publishers.
The NFL is looking to hire a managing editor that would produce content for a Snapchat Discover channel full of animations, articles, and videos. The exact nature of the content is expectedly under wraps.
The managing editor, however, is expected to “help create a distinguished vision/voice for the NFL Snapchat Discover channel that represents the future of the NFL brand,” according to a recent job posting on LinkedIn.
The NFL’s Discover channel will allow the league to not just be limited to snaps but also to share other types of content such as pre-made videos and articles to Snapchat’s highly-coveted audience of a reported 150 million daily active users.
Only a handful of companies have any presence on Discover, and they're almost exclusively mainstream media outlets and brands. The NFL would both bring sports to Discover in a big way and beat other leagues (such as the NBA and NHL) that have been jockeying for their own channels.

The channel could feature news stories like those written for NFL.com and videos of predictions and player profiles like those made for NFL Now. Both NFL and Snapchat haven’t commented on the reports.
