MateBook X Pro: Huawei crams webcam in the laptop keyboard

In addition to launching the first 5G chipset, Huawei also launched a new laptop called the MateBook X Pro. The new laptop follows on the MateBook X from 2017. The laptop looks almost similar to Apple's range of Macbook Pro laptops. Huawei's Matebook X Pro will be priced from $1842.

The MateBook X Pro is a touchscreen laptop with a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio. Next up, it's a 3K display, with 260ppi and 450nits of brightness - with 1500:1 contrast. Also, it has Gorilla Glass.

The MateBook X Pro uses eighth-generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors and has a discrete Nvidia GeForce MX150 GPU. There's up to 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD onboard too.

The laptop has crammed a webcam in the keyboard. Between F6 and F7 lies a dedicated camera button. Press it, and the entire key lifts revealing a hidden HD webcam.

Backed by a 57.4Wh battery, the laptop is said to offer up to 12 hours of 1080p video playback, 14 hours of regular work or 15 hours of webpage browsing. The device features the super-fast power button 2.0 which is said to enable login in 7.8 seconds from power off and 6.6 seconds from hibernation.

It has two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, a power button with a built-in fingerprint scanner, and comes in either space gray or mystic silver. It weighs a little under three pounds (1.33kg).

Additionally, Huawei also unveiled the MediaPad M5 tablet, powered by a Kirin Octa-core chipset coupled with the 4GB memory. The MediaPad M5 comes with a metal unibody and carries a 2.5D curved glass. It sports an 82 percent screen-to-body ratio, four Harman Kardon stereo speakers and supports Quick Charge. The display of the Mediapad M5 offers a 2560x1600 resolution coupled with Huawei's own ClariVu display technology.

The MediaPad M5 will start retailing at a price of $429. A Pro version of the tablet - MediaPad M5 Pro will be available for purchase starting at $490.
