Digital payments company MobiKwik has hired a string of top-level executives to expand its offline digital business and help strengthen its technology platform to support such payments.
The company said it has hired Rahul Lodha, co-founder of home design and building platform Renomania, as vice president of technology. Lodha has over 13 years of experience in the consumer Internet, startups, and telecommunications space. Even Apurva Anand has joined the company as national sales head for offline retail. Anand was previously working with Hector Beverages as national sales manager. Hector Beverages run Paper Boat brand of juices and drinks.
The payments platform has also hired former Flipkart deputy general counsel Lokesh Rajpal as its chief general counsel. Rajpal who comes with a background of litigation, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, the secretarial and corporate law has worked with companies like Honeywell, eBay, Noon.com, and Metro in the past. Jabong's former vice president Rukaiya Rangwala is also being brought onboard as the business head for its payment gateway business.
Bipin Preet Singh, co-founder of MobiKwik said, “We have grown phenomenally in the past few months and are preparing to serve more than 260 million users. We are also focused on building a robust business growth team that works towards making MobiKwik payments ubiquitous in India.”
Singh said that by bringing in such experienced executives MobiKwik plans to enter new domains of personal and consumer finance with a thrust on lending and insurance. The company also said it was expanding its payment gateway team to 100 across Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, and Bangalore offices by the end of the current fiscal year.
