Staying in touch with your clients or sharing content online with your business colleagues has always been easy with Microsoft’s Skype for Business. On Tuesday, Microsoft announced some helpful updates for itsSkype for the Business apps for iOS users and has enhanced it to Android users as well.
As part of the update on iOS, content viewing on the app gets faster refresh rates. The update also improves the app’s battery consumption by 10 to 15 percent and the latency period, acknowledging that the content sharing on iOS hadn't been ideal.
With content viewing on Android, the user can view a presenter’s desktop and applications during a meeting. The meeting controls will also disappear so that you can focus on the content without distractions and a light tap on the screen will then bring back the controls when you need them.
The update also makes staying connected to Skype for Business easier on both iOS on Android. Under the update, you will now have the option to quickly switch the meeting to your cellular line in the case of weak Wi-Fi or data connection. To accomplish this, the app will let you know when your network is affecting your meeting experience. For users who have Enterprise Voice enabled, the app will even provide you the option of having the meeting call you back.
However, Microsoft is limiting these upgrades to only those who pay for an annual Office 365 subscription. The updates are available now, and the latest versions of the Skype for Business app can also be downloaded from Google Play or the iTunes App Store.
For the future update, the Company plans to add the ability to view uploaded PowerPoint presentations on Android to further improve the mobile meeting experience.
