Only four days after releasing build 15042, Microsoft has released Windows 10 for PCs Insider Preview build 15046 to the participators of the Windows Insider Program. However, the latest build does not bring a slew of features, but only a minute feature improvements and changes.

After experimenting multiple times with the colour of Cortana virtual assistant search box section of the taskbar, Microsoft is bringing it back to its usual self. So, Cortana is returning to its old shade of grey.

Also, Microsoft is trying to enhance Cortana by displaying suggestions of what you should pick up from where you left, that too across Windows 10 devices.

Dona Sarkar, a software engineer in Microsoft’s Windows and Devices Group, wrote in a blog post, "Cortana now proactively shows you apps, files, and websites from Microsoft Edge. Previously, this feature only displayed web sites from Microsoft Edge in Action Center."

The latest build also enables users to control which kinds of applications can be installed. If you go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features in this build, you’ll be able to specify the source of installations like whether your PC can install apps externally or only apps from the Windows Store. Or else users can also tune PC to notify you when you try to install apps that aren’t from the Store.

Sarkar wrote, “When you choose either of the Store options, you’ll see a warning when attempting to install a non-Store app. The warning will direct you to the Store where you can download an alternate app if available. In some cases, when there’s already an equivalent app in the Store, the warning will provide a link to that app. This is an opt-in feature, and the default setting is to allow installation of apps from anywhere.”
