Apple might have failed to cash upon Samsung’s Note 7 fiasco to its advantage but looks like Microsoft might have succeeded where Cupertino giant failed.
The Redmond company saw record sales for its Surface line of products in November, and the company cited consumers’ “disappointment” with Apple’s MacBook Pro as one of the many reasons for the same.
The team cited its $650 trade-off between Mac and Surface to have reaped in rich results for the company.
“Our team gets so excited about meeting new Surface users and hearing their feedback, and we got to meet a lot more this holiday season! From Surface Pro to Surface Book, to Surface Studio, to Surface Hub, we’re having our best holiday ever,” said Brian Hall, General Manager, Surface, Microsoft.
The company didn’t reveal any specific numbers around its Surface sales, or how many MacBook owners have taken up the offer, but Microsoft did specifically point to “disappointment” with the new MacBook Pro among professionals as one reason people may be switching to Surface.
“Our trade-in program for MacBooks was our best ever, and the combination of excitement for the innovation of Surface-coupled with the disappointment of the new MacBook Pro – especially among professionals – is leading more and more people to make the switch to Surface, like this,” he added.
Microsoft did not leave anything to chance this time around and went in with aggressive marketing saying, “No device lineup can match the performance, portability and versatility of the Surface family.”
Though the new line of MacBooks did not have much against them but they probably missed the “wow” factor. The only complaint that has surfaced is the lack of useful ports for plugging in other devices and their heavy reliance on dongles.
