Facebook-owned Instagram is testing a feature that allows users to post their Instagram Stories directly on WhatsApp. The new feature confirmed by TechCrunch, lets users post photos, videos, and gifs as their WhatsApp status which will disappear after 24 hours.
"We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you," a Facebook spokesperson said.
Users will get an option to tap to share to WhatsApp from the Instagram sharing screen. They will then have to press 'send' in WhatsApp to post the story. An Instagram Story posted as a WhatsApp Status becomes encrypted like the rest of the WhatsApp. The feature is, however, currently available only to a small number of users.
Earlier, Instagram had introduced the ability to post Instagram Stories to Facebook Stories, which is currently available for the US users alone. However, the reverse process of posting Facebook Stories on Instagram is not available as yet.
